Om tjänsten

A postdoctoral position is available in the Wallenberg Wood Science Center (WWSC) and the research group of Professor Christian Müller at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Chalmers University of Technology. We are looking for a highly motivated colleague to join our team to develop new materials for the fabrication of flexible electronic devices. Project description The research will focus on the design of novel composite materials and hydrogels based on biopolymers, nanocellulose, and conjugated polymers. You will work closely with WWSC researchers at Chalmers, KTH, and Linköping University (LiU). This role also offers exciting opportunities to travel and engage with external collaborators. Research environment The Müller Research Group at the division of Applied Chemistry specializes in the physical chemistry and materials science of organic semiconductors, polymer blends, and composites. Our work contributes to the development of new materials for wearable electronics and sustainable energy applications, including organic solar cells, thermoelectric devices, and power cables. Collaborations with other universities, research institutes, and industry partners are central to our research. The group currently includes one professor, one senior scientist, four postdocs, and nine PhD students. Main responsibilities Most of your time will be devoted to your own research, carried out in collaboration with other postdocs, PhD students, and external partners. As a postdoctoral researcher, you are expected to contribute with your own ideas and communicate scientific results effectively, both orally and in writing. Your profile We are looking for a candidate who has: • A PhD degree awarded no more than three years before the application deadline (or is close to completion), in materials science, organic chemistry, or a related field.* • A strong track record of early research achievements, such as peer-reviewed publications. • Solid experience in the processing and chemical modification of nanocellulose or biopolymers. • Proficiency in rheological and mechanical characterization of polymer-based materials. • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute to interdisciplinary work. • Very good command of English, both spoken and written. * The official date of your doctoral degree is the one stated on your degree certificate. Exceptions to the three-year limit can be made for parental leave, sick leave, or military service. Contract terms Full-time temporary employment for a maximum of two (2) years, with the possibility to extend by one (1) more year provided project funding is available and the project goes according to plan. The monthly salary of a Postdoc researcher at Chalmers is about 41'000 SEK before tax (€ 3'600).
